ARCHBOLD.ORG • SUMMER 2018 3 Stars for quality care Every day, our team focuses on providing high-quality, patient-centered healthcare. So it’s always rewarding when we’re recognized for our efforts. In January, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published quar- terly Star Ratings on its Hospital Compare website. Archbold Memorial Hospital and Archbold’s Grady General Hospital received a double four-star rating for Overall Rating and Patient Experience—the only hospitals within 100 miles of Thomasville to achieve that. In April, CMS published Star Ratings for nursing homes and long-term care facil- ities on its Nursing Home Compare website. Archbold’s Glenn-Mor Nursing Home was one of only two facilities in Thomasville to earn a five-star overall rating. This summer, Archbold Memorial Hospital received the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award—the only hospital in Southwest Georgia to earn this distinction. Based on data from a patient survey, the award goes to hospitals in the top 15 percent nationally with the highest overall patient experi- ence scores. “I’m very proud of these accomplishments, a direct reflection of the caliber of people on our team. Rest assured we will continue to focus on delivering the best care with the compassion and kindness patients have come to expect at our Archbold locations throughout the region. J. Perry Mustian President and CEO, Archbold Medical Center Why I give JOE BE VE R LY Pat Fenlon (former CEO of John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital) told me I was the first Trustee of Archbold to have been born in Archbold Hospital. I am a former chairman of the Board, the longest-serving member of the Archbold Corporation (63 years) and the son of a former Board member, and my brother Ken was the CEO of Archbold for 33 years. No one is more connected to Archbold. In 1955 Archbold launched its first community-wide fund drive. My father agreed to be in charge of the fund effort in Ochlochnee. Obviously, with his involvement, Ken and I were also involved. Our dad explained how important Archbold was to our community and the necessity to support it financially. I vividly remember one Saturday when we went in every store in Ochlochnee (approximately 15) asking for donations. We received some money, a lot of smiles and some friendly “nos.” Overall, the drive in Ochlochnee was a success. Nothing has changed from 1955; Archbold remains crucial to the well-being of Thomasville, and the need to support it financially even more is vital to its continued success. Please join Mary and me in supporting Archbold.
