This year, the community will gather on the hospital’s front lawn to celebrate the annual lighting of the hospital tree. The 2018 Tree of Lights is presented by sponsor TC Federal Bank. Archbold Classic Monday, Nov. 5 Glen Arven Country Club Thomasville This year, the Archbold Classic Golf Tournament will benefit the planned John B. and Elizabeth Wight Inpatient Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Archbold Memorial Hospital. A cocktail dinner is set for the night before the fun and fellowship begin on the historic Glen Arven Country Club golf course in Thomasville. The A Pink Affair Join us as we celebrate A Pink Affair, a benefit fashion show featuring local cancer survivors. The Pink Affair will be held at the Thomasville Center for the Arts. A celebration honoring models will follow the fashion show with food and live music. Pink cocktail attire is suggested but not required. Proceeds from the event will benefit “Brave and Beautiful,” a new program at the Singletary Oncology Center to help patients capture the look that helps them feel brave and beautiful. The program will offer monthly workshops led by a licensed cosmetologist who will teach skin care, makeup and hairstyles, including options for wigs. Tickets will be available for pur- chase beginning Oct. 1. Camp HEAL Saturday, Oct. 13 Camp PineyWoods Thomasville Archbold’s Hospice of Southwest Georgia will host the 13th annual Camp HEAL (Healing and Encouragement After Loss), a bereavement day camp that helps children ages 6 to 17 learn how to cope with the loss of a loved one. The day camp, funded through designated gifts made to the Archbold Foundation, is free and open to children who have recently experienced a loss. Trained professionals and volunteers assist with therapeutic activities, pet ther- apy, art therapy, and educational discus- sions on grief and bereavement—while helping the children discuss the loss of their loved one and how to work through grief. Saturday, Sept. 29 Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology Center Thomasville Live Better, the Archbold Medical Center-led collaborative of key commu- nity leaders focused on improving the health of the citizens of Thomas County, will host the third annual Live Better 5K Pink Run. The Live Better 5K Pink Run will help promote early detection of breast cancer and encourage overall healthy living. Runners and walkers are welcome. For participants who want to put their strength and endurance to the test, new for 2018 is the Pink Elite Challenge. Pink Elite Challenge participants will run the 5K with an added obstacle course.
